Market Samurai and Adwords Keywords

2 Great Things That Work Great Together!

If you use Google Adwords at all you know that Google has provided some free tools to help you find the best keywords for your campaigns. The problem is that the tools are somewhat mediocre. I know they are free so what do you expect. Well I expect allot more considering what I pay to use Google’s ad service. Much more! That’s where Market Samurai comes in. Instead of using Google’s keyword tool and then once you find a group of keywords having to go to the traffic estimator you can see the whole picture at once.

Take a look at the example below:

adwords-keywords-market-samuraiClick to enlarge

Take a look on the right of the picture. Starting with AWT or Adwords traffic you’ll notice that you get everything you need at a glance.

  • AWT – The total amount of traffic you can expect with your ad at the top of the page
  • AWC – The total amount of competition you can expect for that keyword
  • AWCPC – The average you can expect to pay per click
  • AWCTR – The percentage of people who click on the #1 keyword

Focus on Adwords Keywords

That means if you hide everything else and focused on just the Adwords Keywords data you can easily narrow down what will work best for your campaigns. You may want to start out with an idea of how much traffic you want and what you’re willing to pay for it. You already have a price set for your product or service so how many people need to see your landing page to make one sale? If you’re not sure what your conversion rate is figure an average of 2% for a product and 1% for a service. Now this is not set in stone and conversion rates for both can be as high as 10% or more with the right offer and copy.

Now how much competition do you think you can handle? Some people like a highly competitive keyword because they feel if other marketers are using it the market is strong. Others want to find a niche that has relatively few competitors even if it means sacrificing some traffic for that low hanging fruit. Once you have what you think you need start the testing process and see how you do. Don’t move too fast and remember to set your campaign budget accordingly.

By using Market Samurai you can greatly improve the way you use Google Adwords and at the same time up your chances of creating highly profitable campaigns.

Permission Marketing

How to Use Permission Based Marketing to Build Your List

Ever walk into a store and right away a sales person comes up and starts pitching you on products? What did you do? If you’re like me you probably said “No Thanks” and walked away. Permission based marketing is exactly the opposite. If that salesperson used permission marketing they would start the conversation by telling you their name and asking if you were looking for anything in particular. If you said no thanks they would politely excuse themselves and let you know they would be there if you need them.

Permission marketing is “NOT” pushy and doesn’t try to close the sale today. You see with so many advertisers trying to grab the attention of consumers by getting in their faces consumers have built a wall that says I don’t want to be sold to. Because of this asking for permission can mean the difference between losing a sale and building a relationship.

Building relationships

Building relationships is what it’s all about. Let’s face most visitors to your website aren’t going to buy the first time. Even with the most convincing copy and the best call to action they still may not purchase the first time. By building a relationship over time you can give them the confidence they need to make a purchase in the future.

First steps

Here are some first steps in permission based marketing:

  • Set up an opt-in form
  • Collect email addresses
  • Give something away
  • Use an Autoresponder
  • Have a contact plan
  • Keep it short
  • Don’t use a heavy close

Your opt-in form is where you ask permission to carry on a conversation with your visitors. By opting in a visitor is saying yes I would like you to contact me in the future. At the least your opt-in form should collect a first name and email address. If you can give something of value away, this could be an email course or a tutorial video whatever is make a good value to you visitors. Set up an auto responder. An auto responder like Aweber of Mailchimp can keep you from running into legal problems. Autoresponders are set up with unsubscribe and error checking so you won’t be looked as a spammer. Have a contact plan. Know what is your going to say at each point of contact and how you’re going to say it. At each point of contact have something different to say. Maybe you start out with a hello and welcome followed by a free tip video. The idea is to keep that person thinking about you until they are ready to make a decision and then be there to close the sale. Keep it short and to the point and by all means don’t go for the heavy handed close. You’ll lose them.

Try these suggestions and see how permission marketing can make a difference in your business. Remember that all of this starts with good market research and the best tool for the job is our favorite Market Samurai. Check out the Free Trial and see the difference. How Autoblogging Killed My Blog!

On August 4, 2010, in Autoblogging, by admin

How Autoblogging Killed My Blog!

I recently got inspired by one of the marketing guru’s that send me email every day. This email really woke up the lazy, shiftless part of me that I had been working so hard to suppress. It was all about autoblogging. Autoblogging is where you use a WordPress plugin to automatically scrape or pull content based on keywords. The plugin will search the internet for articles, video or blog posts that contain keywords that you specify. Just ad keywords, shake and instant blog! I thought I had died and gone to heaven. No more searching for just the right title, no more thinking and writing original content just gather a list of relevant keywords copy and paste them into the plugin and your done. I think I’m going to throw a party!

WordPress

Image via Wikipedia

Fast forward about three weeks and the only party I’m throwing is a pity party. You see when I started out on this lazy mans blogging adventure my blog was on the first page of Yahoo and the 6th page of Google for my main keywords. Mind you this was a new blog with NO backlinks. After just three weeks my blog disappeared. I was on page 18 of Google and page 10 of Yahoo.

Now don’t think I am railing against autoblogging because I’m not. Autoblogging is just not as AUTO as they say when done correctly. You see in order to keep from duplicating content which is something that Google does not like, you have to ad quite a bit of new content to the scraped post. How much do you need to ad? I would say at least two to three paragraphs at the beginning and at least one or two at the end of every post. In my mind it seems almost easier to just create new content.

So what’s the best way to use Autoblogging software?

  • Set up your plugin to post to draft so you can ad and edit
  • Use the most targeted keywords you have, broad keywords can bring you content you don’t want
  • Use Autoblogging to fill in the gaps when you’re just too busy to post new stuff
  • Use the content from Autoblogging software to build a weekly linkbait piece

The main thing to walk away with here is that there is no shortcut for building a blog or getting traffic. Using Autoblogging software to build a blog that is fire and forget is a pipe dream. The search engines have shut that option down. Using OPC (Other people content) can be a good strategy especially when you’re running low on time or creative energy. Just remember that all of this starts with keyword research. Market Samurai can help you get seriously focused keywords in half the time of other tools. By using Market Samurai you can:

  • Find targeted keywords
  • Determine competition
  • Evaluate page rank
  • Pick the best topics to write about within your niche

Using Market Samurai to Develop a Niche Marketing Strategy

Finding a niche in any market now days is tough. There are so many marketers out there looking for niches to sell to that sometimes it seems like there’s nothing left. This is the reason you need to develop a niche marketing strategy and to do that you’ll need to start thinking out of the box. The first place to start is with

Niche Market.
Image by Uncle Crappy via Flickr

your main keyword.

  • How many searches does it get daily
  • How many websites have that term in the title of the page
  • How much competition is there for your main keyword
  • How related many long tail keywords  have you found
  • Can your main keyword translate to local search

Answering these questions will help you to develop your niche marketing strategy by focusing you on narrowing things down to the niche level. Take local search for example something as simple as tacking on a city or state to the beginning or end of a keyword can make a huge difference in how easily you can rank with it. By using Market Samurai to do keyword research you can answer all of the questions I asked above thereby making your job that much easier.

Using off line information

Use things like magazines and books to determine whether a niche is popular. If your keyword has an associated magazine that shows it’s popular and has enough a fairly strong base. Look at television are their show devoted to your keyword. My wife is a scrapbooker, you know the ladies that cut and paste pictures put them in books as keep sakes. Well I was flipping channels one night and there was a show on scrapbooking. That tells me if I was looking to sell products to ladies that scrapbook that it’s probably got a healthy following.

The elements of your strategy

So what are the key elements of a good niche marketing strategy? Start by using Market Samurai to find a broad keyword in your topic that gets more than 100,000 searches per month. At this point don’t worry about competition. Once you’ve done this look for related keywords that get no less than 50 to 100 searches per day and that has no more than 45,000 websites listing the phrase matched keyword in the title. Now you are starting narrow your focus. Look at your keywords do they lend themselves to local search? An example would be “German Shepherd breeders in Florida” by localizing the keyword you have essentially created a niche. Take your list and do some off line research. Look for magazines, books and journals related to your keyword. Finally get back online and search Yahoo Groups, Facebook Groups and online forums to see if there is enough of a buzz going on about your choices. Next go to Google’s blog search and see what people are writing about your keywords.

Take action

Now you have a strategy for niche marketing that will help you succeed in your marketing efforts. Remember to drill down to keywords that are still tightly related to your broadest term. Don’t freak if the competition is still fairly high just focus on doing a better job of connecting with your market. By using Market Samurai you can have confidence in your choices and in your new niche marketing strategy.

How to use Market Samurai to improve pagerank and get Google love!

What is Google love? Well that’s when the Google gods smile on you by moving your website up in pagerank. What can Google love mean to you? Traffic lots of traffic, but even more it can mean sales because the more people see what you have to offer the more sales you make. So how do you use Market Samurai to boost your sites pagerank? Well that’s what we are going to look at right now.

Start with a niche

Take a look at the picture below and let’s take a short tour to get started. Notice our keyword “Kayak Fishing” the reason I chose this keyword was to try and show what a niche in a market would look like.  A market niche is a smaller segment of the market that maybe doesn’t get as many searches but also doesn’t have as much competition. In our example Kayak Fishing might be considered a niche of the fishing market.

Pagerank and index count

Next look at the blue green bar and notice the sections that have red arrows pointing to them. These are the pieces of information that are going to be most important for us to look at. The first is PR or page rank, this the level of importance Google has given a particular site based on backlinks as well as a secret algorithm Google uses to grade as site from 1 to 10. The higher the pagerank the more important the site is in Google’s eyes. IC or index count is the number of pages on the site that Google has indexed.

Backlinks

The next three are the kicker. BLP or Page and BLD or domain backlinks show how many incoming links are going to a sites domain or to certain pages within the site otherwise known as deep links. Deep links are in bound links to pages that are deeper in a website structure and more than likely are more focused on specific keywords. The next is BLEG or backlinks pointing to high value sites like .edu or .gov. These sites carry more weight with the search engines so getting backlinks from them will increase the value of your site.

Market Samurai gives you all the tools you need!

So how can we use Market Samurai to help us get better pagerank? We need a strategy. First of all start by inputting your keyword and then down towards the bottom click the “add custom url” button. Enter your websites url as well as your competitions. When you’re done click generate results. Compare your ranking to your competitors.

Do you see a low index count on your domain? That could mean you have problem with your sites structure. You could have a problem with your sitemap or robot.txt file. Check your domain and page backlinks. How many backlinks are going to your domain and how many link to a specific page on your site? If you’ve got more surface links you need to work on your SEO.

Last do you have any inbound links coming from .edu or .gov sites? If you don’t you may want to search for college or government sites, forums or blogs that you might be able to get backlinks or trackbacks from. Also try and find high pagerank sites to gets inbound links from. If your site is a zero and you’re getting inbound links from other low rank sites it’s cheating off the dumbest kids answer in school. It might be easy but it’s not going to get you anywhere.

Using these suggestions will greatly improve your pagerank and help you get more Google love!

Before you try these suggestions download your Free Trial of Market Samurai and see what a powerful ally it can be in helping you make money online.

Fast forward to today and software piracy is on the rise. Don’t get me wrong it’s always been there but it’s defiantly getting worse. People will go
